Brazz was a relatively new addition (1998) to the
pub scene in Exeter. The pub became The Firestone in
May 2006 and kept the continental bar and restaurant theme.
Out went all the stainless steel tables and chairs, replaced with leather stools and sofas. Brazz
also featured a huge tall fish tank which has now been replaced by a statue.
The building was formerly Mitchel and Son of Exeter Ltd., a builders merchant and
wholesale ironmongers (Besley 1947), but had lain dormant for years. It was located in Palace Gate.
Brazz
The Firestone
The Firestone closed in May 2009 presumably as a result of a downturn in
business. The few times I visited, the service was appalling both in the bar and restaurant. I am wholly
unsurprised that it has closed.
